  2. It kind of figures that a lot of the Moody Blues' biggest fans would write off 's "Sur La Mer". Everything on here was written by Justin Hayward and/ or John Lodge. On top of this, Ray Thomas doesn't appear on the album at all even though he was still officially a band member at the time, and Graeme Edge is credited for "acoustic drums /5().

  4. In all fairness, none of the songs are total failures, and Sur La Mer is a bit more consistent overall than the Moodies last effort, The Other Side of Life. "Vintage Wine" is a catchy, if slight, look back at the '60s. "Deep" is as overtly sexual as any piece in the Moody Blues songbook. "Breaking Point" is much darker than most material in the 4/

  6. May 21,  · referencing Sur la Mer, LP, Album, LPR , I just got a copy of this version and although it has 2 extra songs sung in Spanish, the songs are not listed on the back cover which only has the regular 10 songs listed/5().

  8. Sur la Mer is the last of their 3 synth pop albums and easily the best. Hayward is at his very best as a composer on this album with 4 excellent solo compositions, all of which are supremely strong in melody/5().
